Technical Suitability Of The Use Of UHPFRC/BSI Prefabricated Slab Panels For Ewijk Bridge (The Netherlands) - Singular Structures

The objective of the present project was to perform the necessary desk study to justify the suitability of the Prefabricated UHPFRC/BSI® solution as a strengthening solution for steel deck fatigue problems typically encountered in The Netherlands.
Fatigue pathologies, such as longitudinal through-deck plate cracks, and other critical preliminary failure mechanisn, were described in the developped report.
A comparison with the in-situ High Strength Concrete (HSC) alternative has also been performed.
A fatigue assessment in four (4) pre-define locations (control points) of the steel deck structure has led to acceptable damage level for an extended life time of thirty (30) years.
