At every structural collapse event, it is an moment to reflect on our working methodology from governance to operation and maintenance stage corresponding to the life cycle of the structure, including planning, design, commissioning, and construction stages. Moreover, when this opportunity arises with transparency from all involved entities and within the shortest time possible, it is all of the structural engineering practice that benefits from the knowledge sharing and the continuous learning process, which also contributes to the “state of the art” of civil engineering.
Some of the lessons learned that can be extracted from this investigation of a singular structure, are in Chapter 13 of the Case Studie Bulleting no.3 of IABSE (International Asociation for Bridge and Structural Engineering) following a Structure’s Stage Approach investigation technicque.
