Bridge Design Optimization Central African Republic (CAR) - Singular Structures

The Central African Republic's (CAR) Mbomou and Haut-Mbomou prefectures face severe infrastructure challenges that significantly impact the mobility, safety, economic stability and access to essential services of their inhabitants. The lack of connectivity isolates communities, disrupts the movement of goods and humanitarian aid, and exacerbates socio-economic inequalities.

The construction of 10 steel bridges, strategically located to enhance connectivity within the aforementioned prefectures, will address this issue. The bridge deck is a priority design (Bailey bridge), with particular attention given to preliminary studies (topographical, geotechnical and hydrological/hydraulic works), as well as the design and construction of the bridge abutments.

The design and construction schedules are very tight. Thus, revised planning and working methodologies were developed to ensure coordination between the works to be performed, including its corresponding design review, in order to meet the programme schedule.
