Nine (9) Steel Bridges (Democratic Republic of Congo) - Singular Structures

As part of a framework agreement for structural expert services, the primary objective of the commissioning is to evaluate the structural integrity and safety of the bridges (Structural Capacity Review) and address any associated residual risks.

The bridge spans range from 18.3 m to 99.0 m. Notably, six (6) out of the nine (9) Steel bridge abutments were rehabilitated rather than newly constructed, while all bridges utilize Bailey’s pre- engineered modular deck superstructure solution.

The second objective is to assess whether modifications in construction led to material changes in quantities.

Lastly, the third objective is to evaluate the proper implementation of structural durability requirements during construction, with a primary focus on the bridge abutments.
