Kreekrak Bridge Schelde-Rijnkanal (The Netherlands) - Singular Structures

Technical Reviewer for the strengthening alternatives of two (2) parallel bridges of three (3) span twin plate girder each over the Schelde-Rijnkanaal.
The alternatives analyzed are: Plate Strengthening, Exterior Post-tensioning, and Arch Bridge (140m span, bow string),which include the Technical, Cost Estimate, constructability, Health and Safety and Environmental Review.
The two (2) Kreekrak steel bridges carry the A58 highway over the Schelde- Rijnkanaal. The bridges are identical with a total of 240 m each through three spans; two side spans of 50 m and the main span of 140 m.
Over the canal they provide a clearance of 9.1 m. Each bridge has an 18 m wide orthotropic deck which rests on cross girders that lie at a center-to-center distance of 5 m.
