Galecopper Bridge (The Netherlands): Fatigue Assessment and Deck Strengthening

This bridge is composed of two (2) independent skewed Cable Stayed Bridges of 320 m span each, with a main span of 180m. This bridge carries the A12/A27 motorway over the Amsterdam- Rhine canal as part of the Utrecht motorway ring and it is owned and operated by Rijkswaterstaat. As a Design Leader for the Inspection and Maintenance Design Strategy (including Utilities Network and Accessibility), the strategy was developed by taking into account the structural retrofit design that was ongoing simultaneously. An Inspection and Maintenance Manual was developed for primary and secondary structural elements, including specific check forms that would be readily integrated into the Rijkswaterstaat’s Asset Management Platform.
