The Kwang-Ahn Grand Bridge in Busan is a three-span continuous earth-anchored suspension bridge connecting Haeundae-gu to Suyeong-gu. The structure features a 900-meter suspension section composed of a 500-meter main span flanked by two 200-meter side spans. Technically, the bridge utilizes a 9-meter-high stiffening steel truss girder to support its double-deck roadway, a design chosen to ensure torsional rigidity and aerodynamic stability against high coastal winds.
Completed in 2002 ahead of the FIFA World Cup, it remains the second-longest bridge in South Korea and was engineered specifically to withstand local seismic activity. Deputy Lead Design Engineer responsible for the truss block stability analysis during transportation and lifting, deck stability during sea transportation, design of temporary deck bearing supports and deck cross bracing design.
